Porsche 911 Targa is just in time for summer!

After the Coupé and the Cabriolet, Porsche adds the third body variant to the 911 992 line. It is time for the Targa, the classic with the semi-open roof. It is available in two four-wheel drive versions, the Targa 4 and the Targa 4S.

When you say Porsche Targa, you always think of the Police Porsches that adorned the Dutch roads until the 1990s. Their open roofs enabled the agents of the road traffic service of the National Police to gesture to passersby while standing in the car. The open roofs are still there, but the Police now drive Audi.

The latest model of the 992 series also has an open roof. Nowadays it can be opened electrically and in this version it only takes 19 seconds. Under the engine lid is the 3.0 liter boxer engine with double turbochargers. The 911 Targa 4 is good for 385 hp (+15 hp) and 450 Nm. The fastest sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour is in 4.2 seconds (-0.1 s.) And the top speed is 289 kilometers per hour (+2 km / h).

With the S included, it all goes even faster. The engine has larger turbochargers and therefore delivers 450 hp and 530 Nm (+30 hp / + 30 Nm). Zero to one hundred kilometers per hour goes in 3.6 seconds (-0.4 s.) And it only continues up to 304 kilometers per hour.

The cars get the PDK automatic transmission with double clutch as standard, but those who really don't like it can also opt for the new seven-speed manual transmission in the Targa 4S.

Although the announcement is in time for the summer, ordering now means driving only after the summer. Fortunately that does not matter, because the Targa roof also does well in winter. The new 911 Targa models will be at Porsche Centers from August 2020. Prices start at € 168,200 for the 911 Targa 4 with PDK. The 911 Targa 4S with manual gearbox costs at least € 182,700 and the 911 Targa 4S with PDK has a starting price of € 186,000.
